Hey Everyone! I am always looking for ways for us to get together, enjoy each other's company and have a great time out. This time we are going to do it for a really worthy cause!

AIDS WALK NEW YORK is an annual event committed to raising money to fight this epidemic. In 2007, more than 45,000 people, a crowd as diverse as the city itself, participated in AIDS Walk New York and raised a record-breaking sum of more than $6.8 million. Now it is our turn. Let's do our part to fight the spread of HIV/AIDS.

I have created a team, Danielle's Dynamos, to walk in this fantastic event. I have set a goal of recruiting 50 members to raise no less than $20,000 to help fight this disease. Between all of my various groups, I have an estimated 4000 members! This goal is totally doable, but I need your help.

Registering for our team is easy. Just Click HERE to register for Danielle's Dynamos and you are on your way to making a difference. Feel free to forward this email to all of your family and friends, encouraging them to join our team too! The more the merrier and every little bit helps!

We have all loved someone, worked with someone, known someone who has contracted this illness. Too many of us have had to watch as that someone dies from this. HIV and AIDS affect each and every one of us in some way. No one should ever think that this is "their disease". HIV and AIDS affect us all. Read on for more information:

  • Among HIV diagnoses in NYC in the first half of 2005, over 80% were people of color (53.1% Black and 27.1% Latino) despite the fact that people of color only make up about 50% of the city total population.
  • Women in New York City are an increasingly growing population of those at risk for HIV. In 2004, women represented 31.2% of HIV diagnoses and 34.6% of deaths. It is estimated that by 2010 women will account for 50% of all AIDS cases in New York City.
  • Nearly half of all new HIV diagnoses are among young people 25 and under with most being infected through sex. Two -thirds of sexually experienced youth have never had an HIV test.
  • In New York City, 17% of new HIV/AIDS diagnoses in the first half of 2005 were in people 50 and above. 24% of those receiving a concurrent AIDS diagnosis were 50 and above, suggesting that these adults were more likely to get sick before they learn they have HIV. In other words, they could be spreading this disease and not even know it.

I read these stats and was blown away. Let's work together to eradicate this illness and stop the spread of HIV/AIDS. Registration is easy. Just Click Here to join Danielle's Dynamos and get started raising that money!

    •  It was great to meet some new members and reconnect with others. The walk was so long! We are tough, though, so we made it too the end, none the worse for wear. Can't wait to do it again next year!
